Recent News and Activities

In Fall 2007 I taught CSC230, Software Tools and C. In Spring 2008 I taught CSC/ECE 574, Intro to Computer and Network Security.

In spring 2008 Munindar Singh and I again chaired the faculty recruiting committee. Thanks to all who participated, and welcome to Dr. Jiang, who joins the faculty in 2008/2009.

In 2008/2009 I am chair of the University Library Committee. The Hunt Library will be built on the Centennial Campus, opening in 2013, and will be the signature building for N.C. State.

In May 2008 Qinghua Zhang successfully defended her PhD thesis and will join Google. Congratulations, Qinghua!

In April 2008 Steve McKinney successfully defended his MS thesis, and has joined Cisco. Congratulations, Steve!

In April 2008 TJ O'Connor successfully defended his MS thesis, and will continue as an officer in the US Army, serving as an instructor at West Point. Congratulations, TJ!

In 2008 Jung Ki So has joined my group as a PhD student.

In December 2007 Qinghua Zhang presented her work on "Identification of Metamorphic Viruses and Worms" at the Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (ACSAC).

I am a co-PI (PI: G. Rouskas) on an award from DARPA running May 1, 2008-October 31, 2008 entitled "Edge Reconfigurable Optical Networks (ERONs) for High-Performance Applications"

I am chair of the steering committee for the International Conference on Peer-to-Peer Computing. The next edition is P2P2008, in Aachen, Germany. See you there!

I am a member of the following program committees:

  1. 5th International Workshop on Databases, Information Systems, and Peer-to-Peer Computing
  2. 1st International Workshop on Peer-to-Peer Networks
  3. 8th International Conference on Peer-to-Peer Computing
  4. HICCS-42 Software Technology Track on Architectures for Distributed Systems
